A Tribute to Jose Mar. Sison

A great Marxist-Leninist-Maoist, proletarian internationalist,and revolutionary communist of our time have died. On December 17, 2022, the Communist Party of the Philippines announced the death of its founding chairman, Jose Ma. Sison states, “The greatest Filipino of the past century bereaved us peacefully last night.”

Comrade Sison died at the age of 83 and was born in 1939. Under comrade Sison’s leadership, the Communist Party of the Philippines was established in 1968 on the theoretical and ideological foundations of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism.
Under Sison’s leadership, the CPP launched an armed struggle for a new democratic revolution in the Philippines in 1969, which is still raging and is one of the great and most advanced levels of people’s war in the world, where tens of thousands of the wretched of the earth are hoisting the red banner of revolutionary communism and fighting for a world free of exploitation and oppression. Under the CPP, the proletariat and the masses have liberated areas where the people are exercising political power.
Comrade Sison was arrested in 1977 by the Marcos dictatorship and spent years in solitary confinement. After spending almost a decade in prison and many years in solitary confinement, comrade Sison was exiled in 1987. The Filipino government canceled his passport, and comrade was living as a political refugee in the Netherlands.
In exile, comrade continued his contribution to the revolutionary struggle in the Philippines and internationally. Comrade was actively building international revolutionary anti-imperialist struggles, and he led the International League of People’s Struggle for years.
Comrade Sison lived to serve the people and advance the struggle for revolution. He has penned dozens of books to answer the theoretical needs of revolutionary struggles in the Philippines and internationally. The theoretical legacy of comrade Sison and his revolutionary example will enrich the revolutionary struggles in the Philippines.
The Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan pays its highest tribute to this great communist leader and expresses its solidarity with the Communist Party of the Philippines and the entire revolutionary masses in the Philippines.
